Motochika Shiozaki, Japan

Motochika Shiozaki was born in Japan.

He began taking piano lessons at the age of 6.

By the time he was 12years old, he received many awards, first prize in the North Kanto Piano Competition, including the grand prize in the 27th Piano Competition in Gunma, gold prize in the 16th International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia for Junior category. 

 

He has been taught composition theory by Professor Naotsugi Nishida who belongs to the Gunma University, a national university since he was 13years old. 

Motochika Shiozaki composed a piano variations, a chorus, a suite, and so on. He published his chorus variation in the chorus competition held by his school in 2018. In that time, he act as a conductor and an accompanist. His work has been well received.

 

When he was 14years old, received first prize at Imola International Piano Audition in Japan, participated in the Imola Summer Festival in Italy under the subsidy fee, and he took a lesson by Leonid Margarius. He performed at a concert and won second prize in the 5th Italy Imola International Piano Award. 

After that, he was invited to appeared at the Galuppi Music Festival at the Fenice Opera House in Venice. 

When he was 15years old, first prize in the Tokyo Piano Competition category under 15, and second place in all categories. He did a memorial recital in Tokyo.

That year, he was the youngest student in the overseas music university master class dispatch audition sponsored by the Tokyo International Association of Artists. He passed this audition, and 3 out of 253 people passed that year. 

In 2018 he attended a summer master class at Mozarteum University in Austria. This covered him all travel and tuition expenses. At that time he took classes with Jacques Rouvier and Andreas Frölich. The teachings from the two professors gave him a clue to know the piano performance.

And when winter came, he attended the Dryard Piano Academy, a master class held in Hamamatsu Japan at the end of the year. During this time he received instruction from four professors on music and piano performances and achieved excellent results. He won first place during this academy. And he received scholarship.

 

He is currently taught by pianist Kazumasa Matsumoto and Professor Claudio Soares.
